All Things Mean All Things.
This question i have been really struggling with lately: "Is the profession I'm going into really what God wants from me? How can i glorify and serve God by having a marketing major?" Well I started reading the book of Colossian's today and it really got me thinking...and feeling good about spending G's on this career path.
What i hate hearing most is that Christians should not be friends with unbelievers. I mean, i understand it does say in I Corinthians 15:33-
But if you really, truly love your friend that is not a believer of Christ, why then would you drop them as a friend? That's not being a loving, dear friend. Don't you want them to be saved? Do you want them to dance with you and eat ice cream and play checkers with you and worship God with you in heaven?
f we keep these friends we have a way better chance of saving them, then losing them forever. You could be an awesome example of His love, His greatness and His goodness. Bringing that godly influence will impact their lives and maybe, just maybe they will start thinking, "I want to be like that." "I want that love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." And not to mention eternal life!
So in the end, if you really don't know if the profession you are in will be of any value to Him, just think of the impact you are making on your co-workers by having the love of God overflow out of you to them. People should know you belong to God by the way you love others. You can help to serve them and even clients, buyers, or customers. Talk their language of scripture. Don't recite scripture but use what scripture says to help them in any situation. If you don't have a relationship with God you will have nothing to offer other people. Gods love should pour out of us unto others. What I'm trying to get at here is that every profession CAN and should be a means of ministry.
It says in Colossians 1:16-17 "For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things and in him all things hold together."In the book of Colossians, the Colossian church claimed that in order to become more spirtual, believers had to separate themselves from worldly things. Paul points out that God created all things, heaven and earth. All of the areas on earth, God has concern for. I believe if we are to be more spiritual we need to expose ourselves to ALL the realms of life. God created ALL THINGS the good the bad and the ugly. He knew people were going to be worldly, do unpleasant, ungodly things..that's who he has a heart for, the unsaved. He created that. He created people on this earth that are too weak for temptation and too weak for self control. He loves being the strength in our weaknesses.
"Do not be misled. Bad company corrupts good character."But in my days as an unbeliever, there was no way that i would have been saved if i didn't have a friend that was saved. And i mean, a TRUE friend. One that i cared and loved just as much as she cared and loved me. I think it is our duty as Christians to be friends with the unbelievers so they can really, truly, genuinely see God working and see the loving acts of God. You do have to be strong in your faith to do this, with the spirit dwelling in you so you wont be pulled away, dragged down or tempted. That is why it is VERY important that your best fiend has Jesus as their best friend.
But if you really, truly love your friend that is not a believer of Christ, why then would you drop them as a friend? That's not being a loving, dear friend. Don't you want them to be saved? Do you want them to dance with you and eat ice cream and play checkers with you and worship God with you in heaven?

Quote of the Day
"You mind His business, and He will mind ours"-Charles Spurgeon
I really liked this quote because if we invest our time into the Lord, He will give us his time, love and grace. God will add to us if we seek Him first. He will be more willing to help us out in situations where we need Him only if we are first concerned about His wants from us.
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. - Matthew 6:33
We must seek with our whole heart the kingdom of God as the place of our citizenship, and His righteousness as the character of our lives.
